LONELINESS BY NORMAN MORTIMER

Loneliness and how it creeps right in
And towards the night is where it will begin
No loving arms to hold tight
Sweet words no longer saying goodnight

Opening your eyes to a lonely place
An empty pillow where there once was a face
A love you thought would never end
With someone you believed you could always depend

Now listening to soft music all alone
Hearing no voice talking on the phone
Watching the moon high up in the sky
What went wrong and wondering why

Missing those long walks on the beach
Making love till the dawn would break
Laughing and dancing in the rain
Now all we feel is this loneliness and pain

But then now we have to move on
Throw out that song and a smile on our face
Maybe there's a place still out there
For you and for me
